These slick bottom coatings are used on the hulls of driftboats, jon boats, duck boats and airboats. wetlander is a waterbased epoxy. easy to apply by roller or spray, and ships with no hazardous. A bare aluminum or fiberglass drift boat can “stick” to shallow river rocks due to friction. this friction grab will make floating down the river more difficult, dangerous, and abusive to your hull. by applying wetlander to the hull, the coefficient of friction is dramatically reduced, which allows the hull of the boat to slip and…. I have under reduced automotive paint to splatter, works pretty good. i would use a two part paint to reduce the cure time. just remember to protect yourself as two part paint is bad stuff to breath or get on you..
Forget the marine store and the expensive, custom boat paints. if you properly prepare the surface, rustoleum will do a great job. sand lightly with a fine sandpaper, perhaps 100 grit.. Our drift boats are designed to withstand the hardest use under the most grueling conditions. 6061-t6, one of the strongest weldable aluminum alloys available, is used in both the side and bottom. custom designed extrusions, along with continuous welds on the inside, are used so that no exterior welds are necessary.this is the strongest. I recently acquired a 16'x54" willie drift boat that is in need of a new floor. i've searched on here and everywhere else on the internet for opinions on the best way to go and i am still not convinced on how i want to do it..
